2. Your name and address (town, street name or around about location…if you’d like to share)

3. Years in business and/or years you’ve owned the business
I have been in business since October of 2016, so just about 2.5 years

4. Tell us a little about your business and what services it provides or sells
The Simple Seam is simply a reflection of my own personal style. Through my online boutique I curate seasonal collections of women’s clothing and accessories based off current trends and also my own quirky tastes. I run my business strictly though ecommerce as well as on social media, but also schedule a few pop-up shops throughout the year so that I can build a local customer-base as well. From tops and bottoms to shoes and dainty jewelry I try to carry a little bit of everything within my product line. To put it super plainly, I sell cute clothing online. ☺

5. What is your number one best-selling item or most known for thing?
I cannot pinpoint just one item, since I am constantly turning over my product and introducing new items into my lines, however anything that is casual and comfy, something you can just throw on and head out the door in, seems to be what my customers love the best! I guess you could say I’m a sucker for the “the basics” however I always try to stock items that are simple, but have a little bit of interest to them (a raw edge, exposed seams, distressing, fringe, contrasting materials) something that makes them unique.

6. It’s brag time! 🙂 What is your favorite thing about your business?
I’m spoiled. I get to work from home, create new fun friendships with ladies all over the country, and basically online shop day in and day out. I’ve learned a heck of a lot from running my own business; it’s not always fun, it can get stressful, but at the end of the day it is so rewarding to say that it’s ALL MINE. From the photography, web design and marketing, I do everything myself. I mean who doesn’t want to take selfies and play with cute clothes all day in the comfort of their own home…?! This little biz has allowed me to put my degree to use (fashion merchandising) do what I love, make my own schedule and enjoy life without working the typical “retail schedule.”

7. Tell us a little hidden secret/gem about your business or something that you sell that many don’t know about
I am my own model… (insert blushing face). Yep, that’s me all over social media and on the website. I would like to eventually have everything done professionally… but that costs a lot of moolah, so for now I am making it work and I actually really enjoy it!

8. Why did you choose New Wilmington for your business?
I guess you could say I didn’t choose it, it chose me. ☺ New Wilmington has always been home but a certain boy is who really brought me back. I struggled a bit in the beginning with finding work without feeling like my degree was just put to waste, because lets face it, there are no bigwig fashion companies remotely close! I had to create something from nothing so, The Simple Seam is what rose up from my unhappiness and struggle. With this job now I can essentially take it anywhere, but do not foresee leaving this lovely little town. Who knows, maybe a physical location is in my future, but for now I could not be happier.
