Donut DAZE, June 2nd & 3rd

DD_logoCome enjoy a sweet experience for the whole family!

Wilmington Donut DAZE is a two-day festival celebrating the deliciousness, and fun, of the DONUT. Who doesn’t love donuts?!? And this is the perfect place to do it – within a one-hour radius we have over 24 different independently owned and operated donut shops!

To highlight these scrumptious little gifts, we have planned a Donut Crawl from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on National Donut Day, Friday June 2nd. This year, 15 different shops have joined us in our event. With the additional 5 shops, we’ve expanded our options. You can choose a Creep, a Crawl, or a Coma, depending on how many donuts you wish to try. Each shop will be represented by a carefully chosen donut, giving you a wide variety. We are beyond excited! Here’s how it will work. Starting at 5:00, come to the registration table and pick up your bakery box and mug. Then move from station to station, collecting one donut from each of your designated bakeries. Eat them, or put them in your box for later. It’s totally your choice. We’re also being joined by a fabulous local coffee house and a dairy, so hold out that mug and get something to drink to go with your donuts! Tickets will be very limited the evening of the event, so make sure to register soon!

The Tour de Donut is to follow on Saturday June 3rd.  A great number of local and visiting cyclists already take advantage of the many beautiful country roads in the Wilmington area. We are inviting those, and many more, to partake in an organized ride – with one hitch – DONUTS! Tour de Donut - logoThere will be three different route options available for every level of cyclist – 10 mile, 30 mile, and 60 mile. Donut eating is totally voluntary, but riders will not get their donut medal of completion without eating a total one full dozen donuts for the 10, 30 and 60 mile options. Of course we will also be offering water, Gatorade, and fruit to help wash the donuts down at each stop. New this year – Dirty Pickle lunches can be waiting for you at the finish line. And Two Rivers Coffee of course! To guarantee a limited edition t-shirt, cyclists should pre-register by May 19 at:

The purpose of this weekend event is to celebrate wonderful assets we have here in our own region – delicious donuts, beautiful cycling routes, and fun people! But also, to invite those from outside our immediate community to celebrate with us as well!

Can’t wait to see you there! With sugar stuck on your fingers of course 🙂
