Donut Daze: June 3rd & 4th

Come enjoy a sweet experience for the whole family!

Wilmington Donut DAZE is a two-day festival celebrating the deliciousness, and fun, of the DONUT. Who doesn’t love donuts?!? And this is the perfect place to do it – within a one-hour radius we have over 24 different independently owned and operated donut shops!

To highlight these scrumptious little gifts, we have planned a Donut Crawl from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on National Donut day, Friday June 3rd. Various stations will be set up in downtown New Wilmington where participants will stop to fill their box with one of each different donut shop’s creations. They will also be given a mug for delicious coffee to accompany your sweet treats.  Tickets will be limited the evening of the event, so make sure to pre-register by May 21st in order to guarantee a spot in the crawl. Many silly donut themed games are also being organized for festival attendees to partake in. Some examples are Jelly Donut Bingo and Donut Toss. Donut themed music will be played setting the tone for an evening of fun for the whole family. The evening will wrap up with a Best Donut competition. All of the donuts given out that night will be tasted and judged by a skilled panel of donut eaters. The winning donut will be the named the best of 2016!

The Tour de Donut is to follow on Saturday June 4th.  A great number of local and visiting cyclists already take advantage of the many beautiful country roads in the Wilmington area. We are inviting those, and many more, to partake in an organized ride – with one hitch – donuts! Tour de Donut - logoThere will be three different route options available for every level of cyclist – 10 mile, 30 mile, and 60 mile. Donut eating is totally voluntary, but riders will not get their donut medal of completion without eating a total of a half dozen donuts at the various stops for the 10 mile route, or a whole dozen for the 30 and 60 mile options. Of course we will also be offering water, Gatorade, and fruit to help wash the donuts down at each stop. To guarantee a limited edition t-shirt, cyclists should pre-register by May 15 at:

The purpose of this weekend event is to celebrate wonderful assets we have here in our own region – delicious donuts, beautiful cycling routes, and fun people! But also, to invite those from outside our immediate community to celebrate with us as well.

Can’t wait to see you there! With sugar stuck on your fingers of course 🙂
