Donut DAZE

DD_logoCome enjoy a sweet experience for the whole family!

Help us celebrate National Donut day, Friday June 1st, with an extra sweet event! In conjunction with Wilmington Donut DAZEa two-day festival celebrating the deliciousness, and fun, of the DONUT, we are hosting our Third Annual Donut Crawl!

Who doesn’t love donuts?!? And this is the perfect place to do it – within a one-hour radius we have over two dozen different independently owned and operated donut shops! To highlight these scrumptious little gifts, we have planned a Donut Festival including our Donut Crawl from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on National Donut Day, Friday June 1st. We’ll have plenty of single donuts available for sale, as well as an evening of games and entertainment that embraces the fun side of life. Again this year, 15 different shops have joined us in our Donut Crawl. Some have been in on the festival since year one and some are brand new this year! Each shop will be represented by a carefully chosen donut, giving you a wide variety. We are beyond excited! Here’s how it will work. Click here to register ahead for the event, ensuring you can participate in our Crawl. Then on June 1st, starting at 5:00, come to the registration table and pick up your bakery box and mug. Walk from station to station, collecting one donut from each of your designated bakeries. Eat them, or put them in your box for later. It’s totally your choice. We’re also being joined by The Confluence for coffee, Windy Ridge Dairy for milk, and Nova Coffee for lemonade, so hold out that mug and get something to drink to go with your donuts! Tickets for the Crawl will be very limited the evening of the event, so if you want a guaranteed spot, please buy your tickets ahead hereThis event is rain or shine, so plan on bringing your galoshes if we have a rainy evening.

The Tour de Donut is to follow on Saturday June 2nd.  A great number of local and visiting cyclists already take advantage of the many beautiful country roads in the Wilmington area. We are inviting those, and many more, to partake in an organized ride – with one hitch – DONUTS! Tour de Donut - logoThere will be three different route options available for every level of cyclist – 10 mile, 30 mile, and 60 mile. Donut eating is totally voluntary, but riders will not get their donut medal of completion without eating a total one full dozen donuts for the 10, 30 and 60 mile options. Of course we will also be offering water, Gatorade, and fruit to help wash the donuts down at each stop. To guarantee a limited edition t-shirt, cyclists should pre-register by May 18 at: www.nwtourdedonut.com

The purpose of this weekend event is to celebrate wonderful assets we have here in our own region – delicious local donuts, beautiful cycling routes, and fun people! But also, to invite those from outside our immediate community to celebrate with us as well!

Can’t wait to see you there! With sugar stuck on your fingers of course 🙂
