Fresh Marketplace Grand Opening Recap and June 10 Announcement

The Fresh Marketplace @ New Wilmington Center kicked off its season last week with a successful opening day. The market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through August 26.

The market is located at 129 S. Chestnut St., New Wilmington, behind Mugsies Coffee House.

This season, Fresh Marketplace will offer farm fresh fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised poultry, lamb, pork and beef, organic eggs, cheese, and flowers; local artisans’ handmade items including lotion, soap, candles, and chocolates; honey and maple syrup; ready-to-eat meals; musicians and weekly children’s activities; and more!

A special offering for customers at Fresh Marketplace this Saturday is the sharpening of scissors, knives, and garden clippers. Andrew Kaufman of Fayette is a woodworker who carves wooden bowls while his father, Stan, makes boxes, intricate inlaid stools and cutting boards. This Saturday bring your kitchen and garden tools to be professionally sharpened and while you wait, visit all the awesome vendors of our local area waiting to serve you.

Stop by the Fresh Marketplace between 10 a.m.-1 p.m. to hear the talented young performer, Christian Vogt. Christian first began playing instruments at the age of five at his grandfather’s studio. He took an interest in the drums, which lead his grandpa to start playing guitar with him. Christian is 15 years old and will be a sophomore in high school in the fall. Christian plays a variety of instruments including the guitar, bass, banjo, harmonica, fiddle, accordion, and the mandolin.

Fresh Marketplace Kids will have their children’s activity, Design Your Own Chocolate Lollipop, on Saturday, June 10, from 10am-12pm. Children will draw on edible frosting circles with edible markers, and affix it to a chocolate lollipop! The children’s activity sponsor, Mona’s Chocolates, has been selling delectable chocolate treats to New Wilmington area customers since 1998. Mona’s Chocolates offers custom chocolates for weddings and birthday celebrations, as well as sip and dip party packages in partnership with The Confluence Coffee Shop. You can find Mona’s Chocolates at Mugsies Coffee Shop (in New Wilmington), at the Hoyt Gift Shop and Confluence Coffee Shop (in New Castle), and at Vintage Vogue (in Volant).
