The New Wilmington Kiwanis Club’s annual used book sale has ushered in the spring reading season in New Wilmington for the past 30 years. We will be holding our final sale Wednesday, April 26 to Saturday, April 29. Hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Location is the former Jameson New Wilmington Health Center on South Market Street, New Wilmington, PA, across from Rite Aid.
All books are donated by the community. Paperbacks are at the bargain price of 50¢, hardbacks are $1.00, plus a specially priced coffee table section. Thousands are available to choose from, and are all sorted and displayed by category. We have added over 4,000 books in the last few months to choose from. If you are an avid reader, a book seller, or an organization that has your own annual book sale, this is a great opportunity to stock up at great prices. Deals will be available on the final day of the sale, and group donations will be available for pickup the Monday, May 1. Tables and book shelves are also for sale, and pickup for these is Thursday, May 4.
Proceeds from the sale support various community programs, especially those serving children and youth. Among its many beneficiaries are The Boy Scouts of America Troop 733 Moraine State Council, Wilmington Area School District reading and lunch programs, Cray Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County, the Bair Foundation and the City Rescue Mission. Our community projects include the Nike ReUse-A-Shoe sports shoe recycling effort, an Annual Tree Planting at the Westminster College Field Station, the Annual Halloween Parade, the Annual Christmas Tree Sale, and spring Pancake Breakfast.
