Describe New Wilmington in three words. home. family. community.

Who are the last three people you called/texted? What’s their significance in your life? My Mom. I call her every morning by 8:15 a.m. or she sends out a search party! We talk at least three times a day 🙂

My husband, Andy. He’s my partner and best friend. Today’s morning phone call was about our cat, Zoey, who had a vet appointment. We try to tag team our crazy life. 🙂

My sister, SueEllen. I am so blessed that she and I are sisters and best friends. We have boys close in age and can typically be found on some athletic field.

What was a lesson you learned this week? This is a hard one! I guess I am in the business of (re)learning every year how to say “good-bye” to students I work with through the Career Center at Westminster. It is actually really hard for me! In fact, I have never gone to a graduation ceremony during my 16 years of employment here. I don’t like the finality of it. Thankfully, I am still in touch with many students after graduation. Ahh, the social media world we live in has it’s perks!

What are you most looking forward to in the summer? I look forward to bonfires and smores with friends and family. Gatherings that include corn hole and conversation. I love summer thunderstorms and watching nature’s show from my front patio. I look forward to NOT having to help my kids with homework and to my husband cooking on the grill.

If you could could have any superpower, what would it be? My kids and I talk about this a lot, actually! This is a harder question than you think! I would like to have a superpower where I don’t have to lift a finger and the dishes get done. Oh, and folding the whites in the laundry. That would be an awesome addition.

If you could switch lives with one person for the day, who would it be? Why? Well, I actually like my life a lot, so I am not sure I would…but, perhaps an author I like a lot to see where s/he get ideas!

What’s your favorite part of your home? Probably my kitchen. I love to cook and wish I had more time to do it! Added to that would be our back patio/fire pit area. Oh, and my bed. I love my bed….At age 40, my bed is my new best friend. It doesn’t judge me when I go to sleep at 9:30 p.m. 🙂

What’s your favorite day of the week? Why? Sundays. I love Sundays! We try to have family dinners that include my parents. It typically involves loads of good food and conversation.
